It went down overnight. Maybe it's stretched across the backyard, crushed a section of fence, or blocked the trail to the back of your property. However it happened, a fallen tree has to go, and it needs to be handled carefully.
In The Woods Tree Care provides fallen tree removal for homeowners, businesses, and property owners throughout Central Minnesota. We safely cut up downed trees, haul away the wood and debris, and clear the area so you can use your property again.
Fallen tree removal is the process of safely cutting apart and clearing away a tree that has blown over, snapped, or uprooted. It includes cutting the trunk and limbs into manageable sections, hauling away the wood and debris, and dealing with what's left behind, like the stump or root ball. Because fallen trees can be under tension or resting on other objects, removing them safely takes experience and the right equipment.
Where a tree lands changes how it needs to be removed.
When a tree falls in an open yard, we cut it up, haul it away, and clean up the branches and debris so your lawn isn't buried under wood.
When a tree lands on a structure, it has to come off carefully. Cutting in the wrong order can shift the weight and cause more damage. We remove it in a controlled way to minimize further impact to your property.
A fallen tree across your only way in or out needs to be cleared quickly. We cut and remove it to restore access to your home or property.
Storms often drop trees across trails, field roads, and hunting land. We clear downed trees from wooded areas so you can get around your property again.

When a tree tips over roots and all, it pulls up a large root plate of soil and roots with it. That root plate is heavy and still attached to the trunk. Once the trunk is cut away, the root plate can suddenly drop or tip back toward its hole. It's one of the most dangerous parts of fallen tree removal and a big reason to leave it to a professional.
When a tree breaks partway up the trunk, it can leave a jagged, weakened stub still standing, along with a broken top that may be hanging in nearby trees. Both the stub and the hung-up section need to be dealt with safely.
A tree lying on the ground might look harmless, but it can be one of the most dangerous things to cut. Here's why:
Tension and pressure. Trunks and limbs pinned under weight can spring or roll when they're cut.
Hung-up trees. A tree that fell into another tree can be caught in the branches and come down without warning.
Hanging limbs. Broken branches from the fall may still be caught overhead.
Unstable root plates. Uprooted trees can shift when the trunk is removed.
Power lines. A tree touching a power line can be energized. Stay away and call your electric utility first.
